  • New leak suggests RTX 60 series could come late 2027
  • Source is a leaker with a solid history
  • Increase in RAM prices could delay the launch

It finally seems like there could be some good news for PC gamers, as a reliable hardware leaker has suggested that Nvidia’s next generation RTX 60 series graphics cards will launch in the second half of 2027.

While that might still seem like quite a wait, it’s roughly what we’ve been expecting, as the current generation, the RTX 50 series, launched last year, and Nvidia usually waits a few years before launching brand-new architectures.

If this leak is accurate, then it could mean new Nvidia RTX 60 series GPUs, such as the RTX 6090, could launch around the same time as the rumored GTA 6 PC port. That would be great timing, as the highly-anticipated game will likely be a graphical tour-de-force, and many PC gamers will want to update their rigs with cutting-edge tech.

As Notebookcheck.net reports, hardware leaker ‘kopite7kimi’ posted on X, formerly Twitter, replying to a user who asked if the RTX 6090 is coming out in 2028. Their rather blunt reply of ‘2027H2’ suggests that the flagship RTX 60-series GPU, presumably alongside other expected GPUs like the RTX 6080, will launch later next year.

With RAM prices currently skyrocketing, there has been concern that Nvidia could delay the launch of the RTX 60 series until supply issues are sorted. There’s been no sign of Nvidia’s mid-generation RTX 50 series ‘Super’ GPUs, which were missing in action at CES 2026, with many people assuming that the global memory shortage has forced Nvidia to delay their launch.

If ‘kopite7kimi’s rather cryptic post is accurate, it does suggest that fears that Nvidia could delay its next-gen GPUs are (at the moment, at least) unfounded.

Time to get excited?

While it’s encouraging to think that Nvidia’s upcoming generation of GPUs won’t be delayed, I wouldn’t get too excited yet.

Although ‘kopite7kimi’ has a pretty good track record of accurate leaks, their post doesn’t give any indication of where they are getting this information, and it’s not entirely clear if they are talking about the RTX 6090, or the RTX 60 series as a whole.

Since we’ve only just started 2026, the second half of 2027 is far enough away that there’s still plenty of time for some unexpected delays to crop up, especially as the RAM price crises shows no sign of ending any time soon.

The RTX 60-series launching around the same time as GTA 6 on PC might also be a bit of wishful thinking on my part. Rockstar, the company behind the iconic franchise, has not mentioned anything about a PC release. I’m still hopeful that GTA 6 will end up on PC, as every other main entry in the series has done (in fact, the original game started off as a PC game), but there’s no guarantee it will launch in 2027, despite being a year after the (much delayed) release on consoles, which is due later this year.

Not to be too negative, but even if the RTX 60-series does indeed avoid delays due to the RAM price crises, there could still be repercussions, with Nvidia’s already-expensive GPUs possibly getting even pricier.
